WHY I SHOULD SPEND MORE TIME CHECKING OUT THE TOWN AREA OF SINGAPORE.

So today was my final paper before the semester break (YAY!), and I was with a bunch of friends for lunch. They suggested that we should go celebrate the end of our mid-years and the start of our holiday by going for some karaoke. I was totally up for it. Then we gave suggestions for places that we can go. We suggested going to K-Box Downtown East (since it's located closer to our respective homes), but in the end we went to the K-Box at the renewed *Scape.

We sang for quite some time before I decided that it was time for me to leave for home. I asked my friends for directions to the nearest MRT station (Somerset), and they did give me some clear directions. I left the place and set off for home.

But there was one problem: I was not familiar with the town area of Singapore. My friends said to make a right turn at Cathay; I didn't know which way to face before turning right! I was walking in the wrong direction for approximately 5 to 10 minutes before losing my way along Orchard Road.

It came down to my last resort: whip out my GPS map from my phone. I searched "Somerset MRT" and cruised my way along the road and finally reached my destination. I was so relieved to find the train station finally. I successfully made it home at around 7:20pm.

From today I learnt a valuable lesson: explore Singapore more. Here's why I say so: I'm so used to staying in the Eastern side of Singapore and the places located around the East (since my home is located in the East), and I do not have the time (and the money) to explore the other parts of Singapore. One day I will know my way around Singapore's Central Business District. One day I will know exactly where Borders is located when walking along Orchard Road. One day I will know where to go when I want to take the monorail to Sentosa. (Actually, scrap the last one; I totally know that the place to go is VivoCity.)

Anyway, my main point of this post is that you gotta find some time to go out, explore the other places in your country. You'll never know what to expect, and you will possibly never find it again if you do not know your way around.
